The SparkoCam software attempts to do an interesting task. Convert a Nikon or Canon dSLR into a Webcam using only Software and a USB cable. The premise behind the product is to use the remote connectivity feature of the camera and turn the live preview as a webcam source.
It works. But there is a big caveat. Since the video source extracted is the live preview, and not the true full-HD source, the quality is not the best. Additionally, the software is not free. The free version puts a big watermark on the video source. The license for the software is $70 which is pretty steep. My advice would be to buy a $20 HDMI capture card.
The real feature that I found useful in this software is the ability to use it as a teaching tool. I can easily run photography training course using SparkoCam by demonstrating how the settings impact the final photo.
